My Take

We sat at the counter and I was impressed by both the food and the wine. We even bought bottles to take home. If you’re not drinking, the food is still worth it, but you’re missing a big part of what makes this place special. It’s a wine bar, and they do it well. My advice: sit at the bar, have some wine, let the staff help you choose, and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s lively and creative, and it’s the kind of place that makes an evening feel like it’s going somewhere.

Public Knowledge

Vin Polisson is a pocket-sized restaurant and wine bar on King Ouest, open since 2020, with a few tables and two counters, one facing the micro-kitchen (Michelin Guide); it was recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2025 (Journal de Sherbrooke). The drinks list is built on artisan natural wines with no cocktails, many imported via co-owner Raphaël Rioux’s agency from Central Europe and France (La Presse). In a 2024 review, La Presse critic Ève Dumas praised chef Isabelle Charest’s balanced seasonal plates and layered sauces, singling out tuna with marinated ground cherries and a braised cabbage with miso sauce, though the menu changes with the seasons (La Presse). Tastet highlights the roughly 25-seat, counter-focused room, sharing-style menu and knowledgeable, relaxed service (Tastet).
