My Take
Baumann was one of the first Townships restaurants Angela and I tried. Looking back, it’s funny that we started with what many people call the best in Sherbrooke, maybe even the whole region. We did the tasting menu. It was excellent, but what stood out most was how easy it was to enjoy. You don’t get that “I can’t believe there’s another course” feeling that some tasting menus bring (Angela sometimes gets that, and I do too). We sat at the bar, which I recommend if you like talking with the staff. I’ve noticed that booking a bit earlier for a longer meal often means better service. That was true here. The cocktails are great, and if you’re doing the tasting menu, I’d go with the pairings or just let them pick your wine. They know what they’re doing.
Public Knowledge
Co-owner and chef Suzy Rainville drew attention through appearances on ICI Télé's Les Chefs!, and until the end the restaurant kept its discovery menu running Thursday to Sunday (La Tribune). Tripadvisor reviewers repeatedly praised the seven-course tasting menu with wine pairings and the friendly service, while several called it expensive by Sherbrooke standards (Tripadvisor).
