King Alexandre

A dependable downtown Sherbrooke dinner with a deep drinks list and solid service — good, just not my first pick for value.

My Take

King Alexandre is very good. We’ve been a couple of times, the service is solid, and it’s right downtown, so it’s an easy choice if you want to go out. Still, I don’t think it’ll be a regular spot for us. It’s not that it isn’t good, but there are other places that feel like a better value for a nice dinner. If a friend wanted to go, I wouldn’t argue. It’s just not the one I’m most excited to return to.

Public Knowledge

Tastet includes King Alexandre among its favorite Sherbrooke restaurants, describing a refined gastronomic offering from chef Steven Losier (formerly of Antidote FoodLab and Baumann), backed by a strong wine, beer, and cocktail selection in a room styled like a chic English pub (Tastet). It is a project of King Hall tavern owner Maxime Pothier and shares one address with that pub, and the restaurant itself emphasizes accessible prices, an exclusive wine list, and fresh local ingredients (Tastet; King Hall; King Alexandre). Food blog Scrumpdillyicious, writing in August 2026, highlighted dishes such as mushroom cappuccino, oysters, lobster rillettes, risotto, and octopus, plus a lunch beef tartare alla puttanesca with frites (Scrumpdillyicious).
