Andrea received her Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Bucknell University with a concentration in piano and instrumental music. She completed her Master’s degree and is currently working on a Doctorate in Music Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College where she is also serving as the Director of Student Teaching, Music. Her first job as an elementary music educator inspired her to shift her energy from instrumental music to voice and apply her new interests to theatrical singing and choral music. She has received acting training from Circle in the Square Theater School in NYC, various other workshops and master classes and continues to study vocal technique with a variety of great coaches. Before leaving her teaching post to be a student again, Andrea was teaching choral music at Union 32 MS/HS in Vermont and was music directing and conducting a youth children’s choir with singers ranging from K-12. She continues to maintain a private voice studio and work on her graduate studies while occasionally guest lecturing at conferences and schools. This summer, she is excited to be part of the Music First team as well as Performance at the Center’s “Re-mixing Frankenstein” with Erick Gordon.
